What can I expect at a Sunday service?

Our Sunday morning services are designed...

for the individual, for the family, for the visitor, for the ones looking for the large, impacting brushstrokes of the presence of God.

Time: 10:34 a.m.

We love our worship…
            …sometimes very loud
            …and sometimes very quiet
…and sometimes with flags and dancing
…but always, we strive for God’s presence

We are intergenerational…
…we have young children and senior citizens in our services.

During the message, our children up to age eleven have packets filled with crafts and activities which relate to the sermon.  Parents can work with their kids at the tables in the sanctuary as the sermon is given. Every other week, the children may also go downstairs for our "Extravagant Kids" program where our volunteers, led by a professional, put on a multimedia program designed to help kids experience God for themselves!

We are interactive…
Often during the message, the speaker is asking questions of people who are in the congregation, or asking for volunteers to help with an illustration, or people are reading Scriptures.  Our multimedia screens are designed to keep us all on the same page.

We are artistic… (well, some of us are)
We encourage people to write or sketch during the sermon time.  We are amazed at how the Holy Spirit gives people words and drawings which capture the essence of the message.

We are accessible…
Our Crossfire Deaf Congregation meet in a room off of the sanctuary for their own service at 10:34 every Sunday morning.

Elevator access is available for those who struggle with stairs.

A children's play area, toys, and changing facilities are available downstairs for parents with young children or infants.

We are relational...

After the service, we head downstairs for coffee (and often cookies) after the morning service.

Our Sunday evening services have a variety of formats.

Time: 6:30 pm

  • Our Sunday evening services are all about relationship with God and each other.  A smaller group means we can take time to listen for God’s voice and pray for each other.
  • Supper & A Story takes place one Sunday night a month – for $2 you can join us for supper – and hear someone’s story!
  • For 2009 and going into 2010, our focus has been our Ancient-Future service: where we look to the lives, practices, creeds, hymns, stories and examples from the last two thousand years.

So... we light candles instead of overhead fixtures.

We celebrate communion.

We often sing a mix of old and new songs.

And we use the hymns, stories, lives, songs, and spiritual practices from the past 2000 years to craft a service that connects us to the ancient, and the future, parts of our faith

Our ancient-future services conclude with a time for people to bring their gifts, their words, a Scripture, a prophecy, a prayer - whatever God has given them that night. Sometimes it's very quiet. Sometimes a lot of people have something to say.

And then we pray for each other - as God helps us live our lives out day-to-day: in this time.

As time goes on, our faith will take new forms. At the core, it is always the same faith.
